2012 SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION:    Updated on: 03/28/12


The Capital District Counseling Association is pleased to offer $1,000 scholarships for Capital Region students.  These scholarships are made available to local students who are enrolling in a Capital Region undergraduate or graduate institution.  These are one-time only awards.

Applicants must attend a high school or college in the Capital Region and plan to attend a Capital Region college in the fall. The monetary awards are made in the fall after receiving an official form from the registrar of the college verifying the scholarship winner is a full-time enrolled student after the semester add/drop date.


CDCA Congratulates our 2011 Scholarship Recipients:  

  • Sara Breen from South Glens Falls High School will attend Siena College;

  • Destinie Heald from Hudson High School will attend Columbia-Greene Community College;

  • Jessica LaVallee will attend Sage Graduate School;

  • Emily Olson from Berlin High School will attend Hudson Valley Community College;

  • Lydia Shorter from Berlin High School will attend Russell Sage College;

  • Emily Wilkerson from Niskayuna High School will attend Skidmore College.

The purposes of the Capital District Counseling Association are:

  • To advance the discipline of counseling, guidance, and personnel work; to conduct and foster programs of education in the field of counseling, guidance, and personnel work; to advance high standards of professional conduct; to conduct, educational, and professional meetings and conferences.

  • In accordance with those of the American Counseling Association and are intended to promote the national and state purposes at the local level in the Capital District area of New York State, which includes the counties of Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Montgomery,  Greene, Rensselaer, Schenectady, and the southern part of Saratoga.

  • To unite in one local organization those persons who are engaged professionally in any phase of counseling, guidance, and personnel work, or counselor education in the Capital District;

  • To cooperate with local public and private agencies in their guidance and personnel activities.
